Championship Betting Tips: Pukki party at Carrow Road

A Boro win without conceding in midweek meant we broke even.

It's not a loss but we can do better than that!

We go again this weekend with quite a few eye-catching bets around the Championship.

These are my best picks:

15:00 Saturday

Middlesbrough to keep a clean sheet against Huddersfield - 11/4 (Paddy Power)

Yep, a similar bet to my last couple of picks.

Middlesbrough's defensive record this season is mind-blowing.

They've now managed to concede the second fewest goals ever after 13 games of a Championship season (6).

It's just the 7 clean sheets in 9 games for Neil Warnock's men.

It's quite frankly staggering and showing no signs of stopping.

They come up against a Huddersfield side who are by no means a bad side going forwards, but not exactly a goal machine either.

When you consider the likes of top scorers Blackburn and second top scorers Brentford have failed to notch against Boro, then it would be impressive if the Terriers did manage to breakthrough this stubborn defence.

At odds of nearly 3/1, this seems too good value to turn down and I wonder if the bookies will soon be dropping the odds on Boro clean sheets in the near future.

15:00 Saturday

Teemu Pukki to score first against Coventry - 9/2 (Betway)

The deadly Finn has had a tricky start to life back in the Championship.

After scoring 29 at this level a couple of seasons ago, he managed just 1 goal in 10 games for club and country at the beginning of the new campaign.

It seemed like his confidence was still low after a tough 2020.

However, Pukki has slowly regained that self-belief and looks like he could be getting back to those levels we saw in 2018-19.

He's looking clinical and has scored 5 goals in his last 5 games for club and country.

The Canaries come up against a Coventry side with the worst defence in the Championship.

They're very leaky, conceding more chances than any other side in the division.

Despite two clean sheets in their last couple of games, I struggle to see them keeping out a free-scoring Norwich side.

I usually only back first goalscorer if a team is reliant one player.

I wouldn't say Norwich are as reliant on Pukki as some Championship sides, but their next biggest goal threat in Emi Buendia is suspended for this game, so if anyone was going to score it's very likely to be the Finn.

15:00 Saturday

Bournemouth to beat Rotherham - 10/11 (Bet 365)

I backed Bournemouth to beat Forest but concede and was let down by the Tricky Trees failing to put away a couple of decent chances.

I've got to stick with the Cherries though who are looking irresistible at the moment.

Jason Tindall has got them playing an attractive brand of attacking football and is letting the likes of Arnaunt Danjuma and David Brooks off their leashes.

It's led to them winning their last three games and it could take a very good side to stop them now they're up and running.

I can't see Rotherham being that side.

The Millers are seemingly developing a habit of picking wins against the lesser teams but getting comfortably beat by the sides higher up the table.

Bournemouth should be too good for them and I was surprised to see the odds at 10/11.

It's by no means a big price but I'd have made it even shorter.
