Championship Betting Tips: Back Boro to Brave Brentford

It was a frustrating midweek for my picks.

Preston beating Reading at 2/1 came in which meant we were even money whatever the case, but if it wasn't for a 97th minute penalty then Coventry double chance would have won as well.

That's the Championship for you and we're back again to find the value from this weekend's fixtures!

Middlesbrough double chance against Brentford - 10/11 (Betfair/Paddy Power)

You won't find me backing against Brentford often.

In what's an open Championship season, the Bees are probably the side I'd back to win the whole thing.

Having said that, they have a tendency to put teams to bed, especially recently with just one win in their last four.

Thomas Frank's boys also struggle against sides who are very defensively organised.

That's where Neil Warnock's Middlesbrough come in.

The Teesiders are currently on the longest unbeaten run in England (9 games).

They're also conceded just once in their last six games.

Warnock has really got this side organised and hard to beat.

If he continues his good work then they could achieve big things this season.

Brentford are as short as 3/4 to win with the bookies, which is way too short.

Make them pay by backing Boro not to lose.

15:00 Saturday

Andre Ayew to score anytime against Norwich - 3/1 (Betfair/Paddy Power)

This was one that made me raise my eyebrows.

Swansea are looking like the real deal this season and it's in no short part to their starman Andre Ayew.

The Ghanaian has been moved from the wing to a new role up front and it's paying dividends with him currently the Swans top scorer (with five goals in 10 games) and only three players ahead of him in the league.

He's in red hot form too, having got four goals in his last six games, and having 15 shots in his last three matches.

Having said all this, I can't work out why for the life of me he's such a big price to score anytime at Betfair/Paddy Power.

I can only assume the bookies think Swansea will struggle against Norwich?

I rate the two sides fairly evenly, maybe Swans slightly higher.

But more significantly for this bet, Norwich haven't been the most convincing defensively.

The Canaries have only managed 3 clean sheets in 10 games this season and rank around mid-table for shots against and expected goals against.

They're definitely better going forwards and if anyone is going to score for Swansea, it's more than likely going to be Ayew.

15:00 Saturday

Preston to beat Rotherham - 11/8 (Bet Victor)

This is probably my NAP of the season so far.

These odds are coming in, so get on it while you can...

I backed Preston away at Reading in midweek and it's a no-brainer to do it again.

Quite simply, the Lilywhites away form is irresistible - 13 points from a possible 15.

It's the best in the league and with the new addition of Emil Riis Jakobsen, Preston would be Playoff contenders if it weren't for their rotten home form.

I expect their away performances to continue against a Rotherham side who are really struggling.

The Millers recently thumped Wednesday 3-0 but that appears to be an anomaly, because before that and since then they've been below average.

Many have tipped them to be relegation candidates this season and that looks to be the case with just two wins so far this season.

It's hard to make much of a case for them against Preston and the visitors look a good price.
